I think it's important to travel around in order to get a notion of what's going on, to find out what people are think about. I enjoy talking on campuses most because people are more informed and discussion is generally livelier.
Major John Reisman: You've seen a general inspecting troops before haven't you? Just walk slow, act dumb and look stupid!
General Tide: [after Dunbar's suicide attempt at the enemy lines] You rest easy, son. You'll keep your leg, as God is my judge, you'll keep it.
Proximo: I know that you are a man of your word, General. I know that you would die for honor, for Rome, for the memory of your ancestors. But as for me? I'm an entertainer.
[first lines] Annabelle's brother: Fort Sumter has been fired upon. Mr. Lee: Then the war is here. Annabelle's brother: Yes, dad, and I'm going to be one of the first to enlist.
General Ed Fenech: [On the Germans attending the film premiere] We have all our rotten eggs in one basket. The objective of Operation Kino: blow up the basket.
Final quotes: His machine was never perfected, though it generated a whole field of research into what became known as "Turing Machines". Today we call them "computers".
General Rogard: You realize how much hardware I brought out here? You just blew millions of Uncle Sam's dollars out of your butt!
General Murray: I can't make out whether you're bloody bad-mannered or just half-witted. T.E. Lawrence: I have the same problem, sir.
General Allenby: [leafing through Lawrence's dossier] Undisciplined... unpunctual... untidy. Knowledge of music... knowledge of literature... knowledge of... knowledge of... you're an interesting man there's no doubt about it.
General Allenby: I've got orders to obey, thank God. Not like that poor devil. He's riding the whirlwind. Mr. Dryden: Let's hope we're not.
General Tadamichi Kuribayashi: If our children can live safely for one more day it would be worth the one more day that we defend this island.
Chi Fu: Be careful, Captain. The General may be your father, but *I* am the Emperor's counsel. And by the way, I got that job on my own.
Dutch: This cabinet minister: does he always travel on the wrong side of the border? Major General Phillips: [pause] Apparently they strayed off course. And we're fairly certain they're in guerrilla hands.
Lt. Col. Charles R. Codman: You know General, sometimes the men don't know when you're acting. Patton: It's not important for them to know. It's only important for me to know.
[first lines] General Hummel: Congressman Weaver and esteemed members of the Special Armed Services Committee, I come before you to protest a grave injustice... It has to stop.
General "Buck" Turgidson: Mr. President, we must not allow a mineshaft gap!
Narrator: [narrating] How could I have failed to have the most helpless crush on such a generous mind and life-enlarging mentor. Nathan was utterly, fatally glamorous
C-3PO: I'm rather embarrassed, General Solo, but it appears that you are to be the main course at a banquet in my honor.
General Grievous: [to Obi-Wan Kenobi] You Fool. I have been trained in your Jedi Arts... by Count Dooku.
General Grievous: Army or not, you must realize, you are doomed. Obi-Wan Kenobi: Oh, I don't think so.
