Frodo: You're late. Gandalf: A wizard is never late, Frodo Baggins. Nor is he early. He arrives precisely when he means to.
Pippin: [to Elrond] Anyways, you need people of intelligence on this sort of... mission... quest... thing. Merry: Well, that rules you out, Pip.
Witch-King: Give up the Halfling, She-Elf! Arwen: [draws her sword] If you want him, come and claim him!
Gimli: If anyone was to ask for my opinion, which I note they're not, I'd say we were taking the long way around.
Frodo: What news of the outside world? Tell me everything. Gandalf: Everything? You are far too eager and curious for a Hobbit. Most unnatural.
[after falling down a hill] Merry: I think I've broken something. [pulls out a broken carrot]
Frodo: We must leave the Shire. Sam and I must get to Bree. Merry: Right... Buckleberry Ferry! Follow me!
voiceover: [from prologue] And some things that should not have been forgotten were lost. History became legend; legend became myth.
[Boromir holds up a piece of the legendary sword Narsil] [he touches the blade and accidentally cuts himself a little] Boromir: Still sharp.
Gandalf: But we still have time. Time enough to counter Sauron if we act quickly. Saruman: Time? What time do you think we have?
Gimli: Whatever luck you live by... let's hope it lasts the night. Legolas: Your friends are with you, Aragorn. Gimli: Let's hope they last the night...
Aragorn: [looking at defenders of Helm's Deep] Farmers, ferriers, stable boys. These are no soldiers. Gimli: Most have seen too many winters. Legolas: Or too few.
Elrond: [of Aragorn] He is not coming back. Why do you linger here when there is no hope? Arwen: There is still hope.
Gollum: He wants the Precious. Always he is looking for it. And the Precious is wanting to go back to him... But we mustn't let him have it.
Galadriel: The time of the Elves is over. Do we leave Middle-earth to its fate? Do we let them stand alone?
Treebeard: [of Orcs] They come with fire, they come with axes... gnawing, biting, breaking, hacking, burning! Destroyers and usurpers, curse them!
Treebeard: [to Merry and Pippin] I promised Gandalf I would keep you safe and safe is where I'll keep you.
Frodo: [waking up from a nightmare] Gandalf! Sam: What is it, Mr. Frodo? Frodo: Nothing... just a dream.
Theoden: Look at my men. Their courage hangs by a thread. If this is to be our end, then I would have them make such an end, as to be worthy of remembrance.
Eomer: [to Aragorn, Gimli and Legolas] [whistles] Eomer: Hasufel! Arod! May these horses bear you to better fortune than their former masters.
Aragorn: Legolas! What do your Elf eyes see? Legolas: The Uruks turn Northeast. They're taking the Hobbits to Isengard! Aragorn: Sauraman.
