The most amazing thing is when you find yourself watching someone in the cafe or something doing something weird. It's amazing what people do, isn't it, when you just look at them, when you take the time to look.
What do you do with humans? You eat from them just a little, if they are delicious. You delight in their flesh sometimes, if they are not tedious.
Do you know what we call opinion in the absence of evidence? We call it prejudice.
What are you not doing today that you were doing when I first met you?
How do you play 'righteous'? Do you just kind of stand up straighter? What does that mean as an actor? You don't really play a quality.
The label doesn't do anything but put your record in the store, that's all they do. And tell you, you don't have a single... and tell you, it's not gonna sell... that's what the label does.
'The Hobbit' would have been very difficult to pass on, do you know what I mean? It's not the kind of ship that comes into dock very often.
The challenge is what was making it exciting. You don't want to do anything that's too easy or that you know that you can pull off, otherwise it's really not worth doing.
If you do things to the limit, and don't purposely go over that limit, then I think it's fine to do whatever you want. So long as you enjoy it. That's what's important.

You know, the great thing about acting or, indeed, filmmaking in general, is that we're all given a reason to do research. You kind of have to, really, if you want to know what you're doing, but it opens up this whole new understanding.
There's no real excuse for being successful enough as an actor to do what you want and then selling out. You do it pure. You don't try to adapt it, make it commercial.
It is the greatest shot of adrenaline to be doing what you have wanted to do so badly. You almost feel like you could fly without the plane.
You get the information, and it's not your job to judge it or not judge it. You adapt, and you do it. That's what we do as actors. We're just as surprised as the viewers, sometimes.
You never know when you're going to be considered un-hip... The people that really pass judgment on you really have nothing to do with what you do, usually.
Hamilton Bartholomew: Mrs. Lampert, do you know what C.I.A. is? Reggie Lampert: I don't suppose it's an airline, is it?
David Mills: Do you like what you do for a living? These things you see? Man in Massage Parlour Booth: No, I don't. But that's life.
[from trailer] Sévérine: What do you know about fear? James Bond: All there is. Sévérine: Well not like this. Not like him.
The Operative: Do you know what your sin is, Doctor? Dr. Mathias: I wonder if... The Operative: It's pride.
Storm: Do you know what happens to a toad when it's struck by lightning?... The same thing that happens to everything else. [blasts Toad]
Cpl. Frederic Schiess, NNC: What do you know about Zulus? Pte. Robert Jones: Bunch of savages, isn't it?
