Laurie Roberts: [to Richie] You think you're goin' to heaven because you're honest, but you're not. You're goin' to the same hell as the crooked cops you can't stand.
Carol: [to Falfa] Your car is uglier than I am! [both John and Falfa look at her oddly] Carol: Uh... that didn't come out right.
Curt Henderson: You're the most beautiful, exciting thing I've ever seen in my life and I don't know anything about you.
Debbie Dunham: Maybe if it's the goat killer, he'll get somebody and we'll see the whole thing. Terry Fields: I don't want to see the whole thing.
Bob Falfa: Hey, hey, hey, baby. What do you say? Laurie Henderson: Don't say anything and we'll get along just fine.
Carol: I just love listening to Wolfman. My Mom won't let me at home. Because he's a Negro. I think he's terrific.
Mr. Gordon: Hey, what are you punks doing? What's going on here? Joe: I'm just uh... Curt Henderson: Oh, hi, Mr. Gordon. What's up?
Bob Falfa: [singing] Some enchanted evening / You will see a stranger / You will see a stranger / Across a crowded room / And somehow you'll know / That she is the one...
XERB Disc Jockey: [to Curt] Hey, have a popsicle. The ice box just broke down, and they're melting all over the place. You want one?
Patrick Bateman: [voice-over] There is a moment of sheer panic when I realize that Paul's apartment overlooks the park... and is obviously more expensive than mine.
[Looking at Paul Allen's business card] Patrick Bateman: Look at that subtle off-white coloring. The tasteful thickness of it. Oh my God, it even has a watermark!
Patrick Bateman: You're dating Luis, he's in Arizona. You're fucking me and we haven't made plans. What could you possibly be up to tonight?
Patrick Bateman: [excusing himself from Detective Kimball] Listen, you'll have to excuse me. I have a lunch meeting with Cliff Huxtable at the Four Seasons in 20 minutes.
Evelyn Williams: You hate that job anyway. I don't see why you don't just quit. Patrick Bateman: Because I want to fit in.
[During Harvey & Joyce's first date] Joyce Brabner: I think we should skip the whole courtship thing and just get married.
Joyce Brabner: Harvey, may I have a glass of water and an aspirin? Harvey Pekar: Why, do you have a headache? Joyce Brabner: No, but I want to avoid getting one.
Mattress Guy #1: So is the girl smart? Mattress Guy #2: Well, I guess she's about average. Mattress Guy #1: Average! Man, average is dumb!
Bob Sweeney: This racist propaganda, this "Mein Kampf" psychobabble; he learned this nonsense, Murray, and he can unlearn it too. I will not give up on this child yet.
Derek Vinyard: One in every three black males is in some phase of the correctional system. Is that a coincidence or do these people have, you know, like a racial commitment to crime?
Lieutenant Joyce: I'm sorry, Sir. I thought you were the enemy. Commander Shears: Well, I'm an American, if that's what you mean.
As CNN saw our growth in African-American viewership, they affirmed a fundamental truth of news coverage - people will watch you if they see themselves in what you report. It doesn't hurt if the people doing the reporting look like them, too.
