About Wilhelm Steinitz:
Wilhelm was an Austrian and later American chess player and the first undisputed world chess champion from 1886 to 1894. When discussing chess history from the 1870s onwards, commentators have debated whether Steinitz was effectively the champion earlier. Steinitz lost his title to Emanuel Lasker in 1894 and also lost a rematch in 1896–97.
I do not believe a good player is capable of having an evil thought during the game.
Wilhelm SteinitzI have never in my life played the French Defence, which is the dullest of all openings.
