About Sargent Shriver:
Robert Sargent "Sarge" Shriver, Jr. was an American politician and activist. As the husband of Eunice Kennedy Shriver, he was part of the Kennedy family, serving in the Kennedy and Johnson administrations. Shriver was the driving force behind the creation of the Peace Corps, founded the Job Corps, Head Start and other programs as the "architect" of Johnson's "War on Poverty" and served as the United States Ambassador to France.
The Peace Corps is guilty of enthusiasm and a crusading spirit. But we're not apologetic about it.
Sargent ShriverIf a young person has any idealism at all, it's strongest about the time he finishes college.
Sargent ShriverJust to travel is rather boring, but to travel with a purpose is educational and exciting.
Sargent ShriverIt is precisely our job as Catholics to speak the truth as plainly and precisely as we can.
