About Nate Holland: Nate Holland is an American snowboarder.
Once a bustling logging town, Sandpoint has embraced its natural beauty to become an amazing resort town drawing people near and far to enjoy its beauty and recreational possibilities. It's truly a small town with a huge backyard.
When the gate drops, it's time to try and execute the best you can.
Schweitzer is where I found snowboarding; it will always have a special place in my heart and is a top-notch ski resort. It has some of the best bowl tree skiing in the world and breathtaking views of Sandpoint and Lake Pend Oreille.
My best nutrition tip is to eat things you like that are low in calories and fat. Some of my favorites are chicken, rice, assorted veggies, egg white omelets, turkey sandwiches and protein shakes.
I've always had a strong start, but the start in boardercross is so important. And if you're not getting better, you're getting worse.
I go to all of the trade shows, know a lot of the people making marketing decisions, and I want to keep my finger on the pulse of snowboarding.
When it comes to working out, I really don't like the gym. I go because I have to, but I'm usually not happy about it. I do what my trainer and coaches tell me to do, but I'm always anxious to get outside.
My favorite team is the Bengals. In Idaho, we didn't really have a home team. But my parents are from Ohio, and when I was a little kid, my aunts and uncles would send me Boomer Esiason T-shirts and Ickey Woods mini-footballs, so I got hooked on thos...
I think my strengths are definitely - I'm a really good glider. I'm one of the fastest, like on a straight drag race, I can pretty much kill that.
Some days I'll have good starts, and some days I'll have bad starts. I'm really focusing on having more good starts than bad starts, and I traditionally do. But I would hate to make it all the way to the Olympics and have a bad starting day.
When I am behind and I am looking ahead and there is that line in front of you, of that guy, of winning and losing, then I really hang it out there and take big risks to make the speed up, and then I'm pretty good at passing.
Summertime is my favorite time of year in Sandpoint, reason being, Lake Pend Oreille is warm and ready for action.
The X Games have done night and day for snowboarding and action sports.
I try and find fun activities like mountain biking, hiking, or water sports for a workout rather than pushing weight in the gym.
Lake Pend Oreille is definitely my favorite place to be while in Sandpoint. I love to get out on a boat to enjoy water sports, camping, fishing, or just to relax and catch a sunset.
