White heterosexual male characters need not disappear from narratives. They need not stop being central focus of some stories. They just need to stop taking most of the narrative space, and make more rooms to other types of protagonists: persons of colors, women, persons with disability, and people of other sexual orientation – including asexual ones. What shows on our screens has an impact on our society, not only on our youth. We need to propose stories that include this vast variety of people that form human kind. The Star Wars franchise has a role to play in the media landscape. Not only it is a long term one that has had many fans across different generations since its origin, but now it belongs to the Disney group, one of the major media companies, the image and narratives it offers may have even greater impact.
